If you think that the party scene is overrated, think again. While some people refer to it as living under the influence, I like to call it the good life. Disagree with me all you want, but you probably haven’t experienced it with the right people. It’s not about drinking away your problems or getting so high that you blackout, it’s about having fun. What’s wrong with that? Nothing. It’s an excuse to reconnect with someone that you haven’t seen in forever. You get a chance to meet all these new faces and for once, everyone is on the same page. You tend to catch yourself opening up to these new people more than those that you’ve known for years. Perhaps getting to know someone that you never expected to be friends with. And no matter how much you hate a song, if it starts playing, its only in this atmosphere where you don’t mind putting it on blast. As your doing your own thing, all these inside jokes suddenly start to form. If you weren’t there then don’t even bother trying to comprehend the joke. Smiles are being followed by laughs and laughs are being followed by smiles. Nonstop pictures being taken because it’s a night that you never want to forget. You feel so alive because everyone around you is on the same level as you. Then when the party is over, everyone has given you a hug goodbye and you’re left with all this shit to clean up, you can’t help but smile because it was definitely worth it. When you think that the good times are over, you get invited to another party where you get to relive it over again, possibly with different people. You don’t have to party if you don’t want to, but sometimes you just need to. The good life.
